Easter in Norway

This week marks the end of our Our World Ray, which has covered almost every aspect of life in the Scandinavian country of Norway. I have enjoyed learning lots of fun facts and I hope you have too. As Easter is coming up soon, it seemed appropriate to finish with a look at thequirky traditions that make up a Norwegian Easter. Some bits, like church services and Easter eggs, are the same as in the UK but others are very different.

Exploring the country of Norway.

Unlike our previous four Our World Rays, Norway is not an Island although it does have a very extensive coastline, the exact length of which is unknown and its people from early times to the present day have been seafaring.

Look forward to learning about the Northern Lights, ‘The Land of the Midnight Sun’ and Norway’s amazing folktales. We shall also be finding out about the people of this vast European country and what makes them tick

How to use this resource

There are 5 Rays, which provide a programme for one year’s sessions for a children’s group running during term-time. For each Ray, there is a set of topics, each of which comprises a theme for a term or half-term.

The sessions are presented in a pick-and-mix way - some information, some games, crafts, videos, etc. You are encouraged to adapt the material to your own setting , the time you have available and the resources you have. Don’t think that you have to do everything on offer.
