Having learnt about the geography and history of the islands and how individual they are, it should come as no surprise that their wildlife is also unique. We rejoice in the biodiversity of the Caribbean but also fear that unless steps are taken soon, this may not always be the case.

About this Topic
Each year for our ‘Our World Ray’, we pick a country and find out all about it – flag, money, history, wildlife, food, religion etc. Our first Transformers country was Taiwan; then we learned about the British isles; then New Zealand and this year we will be finding out about the Caribbean – It turns out they are all islands!
There are 5 Rays, which provide a programme for one year’s sessions for a children’s group running during term-time. For each Ray, there is a set of topics, each of which comprises a theme for a term or half-term.
The sessions are presented in a pick-and-mix way - some information, some games, crafts, videos, etc. You are encouraged to adapt the material to your own setting , the time you have available and the resources you have. Don’t think that you have to do everything on offer.
